Biographical Information
Anderson was born on May 2, 1922 in North Liberty, Indiana and passed away on March 12, 2012. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. In August 1945, he served under the Army of Occupation. He completed both his bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Iowa State University in 1947 and Ph.D. in Statistics. In 1951, he joined the Mathematics/Statistics Department at Purdue as an Assistant Professor. He also served as the director of the Statistical and Computer Laboratory.
