Biographical Information

Amy was born on March 3, 1923. He grew up in Delaware, Ohio. During World War II, he served as a communication officer in the U.S. Maritime Service. He received his bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Ohio Wesleyan University, master's degree from Purdue University, and his Ph.D. in Molecular spectros from Purdue University in 1955. The Jonathan Amy Facility for Chemical Instrumentation (JAFCI) provides servies for the Department of Chemistry which is still active. At Purdue, he was an associate professor, director of instrumentation, a research associate chemist, and an emeritus professor of chemistry.
