Biographical Information

Asa Bertrand Segur was born in Decatur, Indiana in 1886. He graduated from Purdue in 1911 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduating, he worked in the Efficiency Division of the Chicago Civil Service Commission. In 1917, Segur became the engineer in charge of the Red Cross Institute for the Blind where he worked with Frank Gilbreth. In 1919, Segur set up his own consulting company in Oak Park, Illinois: A.B. Segur and Company. It was here that he unveiled his philosophy of Motion-Time-Analysis which sought to find the most efficient way to use motion in the workspace. He worked as a consultant until his death in 1975.
