Biographical Information

Harry Spring was born in Dayton, Indiana and and graduated from Dayton High School. He attended nearby Purdue University, where Spring was a member of the Purdue Cadet Corps, a predecessor to ROTC. Spring graduated from Purdue with a Bachelor's degree in 1911, and began working for General Electric soon thereafter. He completed a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1915. Spring enlisted in the Army in 1917 after the United States entered World War I. He received a commission as second lieutenant. Following the war, Spring continued his career with General Electric, retiring in 1953. He died in 1974.
