Biographical Information

Albert Kurland was born in 1914, and graduated with his M.D. in 1940 at the University of Maryland. After his service as a doctor in World War II, Kurland went on to become a staff psychiatrist at Spring Grove State Hospital in 1949, director of research in 1953, director of the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center in 1969, and research professor of psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1979. Kurland is also responsible for starting a non-profit organization called Friends of Psychiatric Research. He passed away on December 7, 2008.
