Biographical Information

Keith Dowden war born May 26, 1920 in Bristol, England. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He received in Bachelor's degree from Bowdoin College and his Master's degree from Columbia University. He joined the Purdue University Libraries in 1951 and stayed there until his retirement in 1986. During his career at the Purdue Libraries he held various positions - reference assistant, head of reference services, assistant director of reader services, assistant director of resources and reference, and assistant director of special collections. He passed away at the age of 85 on June 12, 2005 in Lafayette, Indiana.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of a copy of "A Little in Return," a compilation in honor of Constance M. Winchell, an American librarian who worked at Columbia University. A note accompanying a copy of "Jumping Jupiter" from Ernestine G. Gilbreth to Keith Dowden is also part of the collection.
