Zhao, Guoping

Biographical Information

Guoping Zhao is a distinguished molecular microbiologist whose research focuses include microbial molecular physiology and metabolic regulation, and pathogen genomics research. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from Fudan University in 1982, he began graduate work in biochemistry at Purdue University. He received his PhD at Purdue in 1990. Since returning to China in 1992, he has held numerous faculty appointments and directorships including with the Shanghai Institutes of Biological Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the School of Life Sciences at Fudan University, and the Chinese National Human Genome Center at Shanghai.

Scope and Contents The Guoping Zhao research notebooks (1984-1992; 3.8 cubic feet) include research and laboratory notes compiled by Zhao for his dissertation, “The trpB8 mutation of Escherichia coli tryptophan synthase.” Types of materials include laboratory logs, test results, and other materials chronicling Zhao’s work, most of which are kept in their original binders.
