Biographical Information

Dr. Michael Murphy received three degrees from Purdue University. He received his bachelor's in 1957, his master's in 1959, and his doctoral degree in 1964. He is an experienced researcher, engineer, manager and entrepreneur with over 54 years of aerospace and managerial experience. He has worked for Thiokol Chemical Company, Martin Mariette Astronautics Group (1966-1993), and as consultant to Spincraft, a division of the Standex Corporation. Dr. Murphy also started his own company and took it from activities totaling approximately $60,000 to $485,000 in 2 years.

He has received industry recognition for his work with the Titan missile and space shuttle programs, including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics 1990 Wyld Propulsion Technical Award for leading the 110-man, independent contractor evaluations of the Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME).
