Biographical Information
Donald A. Bloodgood was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November 3, 1928 to Donald E. and Margaret V. Bloodgood. He graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1946 and enrolled at Purdue University. At Purdue, Bloodgood was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and ROTC. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army in 1950. Bloodgood graduated with the Class of 1951 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was the class president.
Bloodgood served the United States Army in active duty during the Korean War, and later in the reserves. He retired with the rank of Colonel after nearly 30 years of service. Bloodgood was a member of several organizations, including the Reserve Officers Association, the Lafayette Chapter of Military Officers Association of America, and the Indiana Committee for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, serving as the State Ombudsman from 1996-2006. He was inducted into the Purdue ROTC Hall of Fame in 1996.
Bloodgood worked for Ross Gear and Tool Company (later TRW) from from 1953 to 1994, retiring as Director of Manufacturing Services.
