Biographical Information
Richard A. Cordell was born July 1, 1896, in Bloomington, Indiana. Cordell earned his Bachelor of Arts degree (A.B) from Indiana University in 1917, followed by his Master of Arts (A.M.) in 1925, also from Indiana University. Cordell studied at the University of London from 1930-31.
Cordell began working as a professor at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana, in 1919. There he was named as the George Ade Professor of English. Cordell was a Lecturer in Japan and Formosa in 1962 and 1964, respectively. Cordell was a member of the Parlor Club in Lafayette, Indiana.
Cordell died July 1986, in Lafayette, Indiana.
