Biographical Information

Eleanor Adelene Cammack was born April 18, 1906. Cammack earned her BA from DePauw University in 1928. She then traveled to the University of Illinois to pursue a BS in Library Science, which she received in 1929. After finishing school, Cammack was hired by Purdue Libraries as an order assistant in 1929 before serving as a librarian. By 1955, she had become the head of the library's Order Department, with the rank of assistant professor. Following her depature from Purdue Cammack worked as an archivist outside of Purdue, helping to compile and process collections for the DePauw University and Indiana Methodism archive.

Abstract The Ancient and Medieval Manuscript Leaves collection contains leaves from Breviaries, Books of Hours, Antiphonaries, Bibles, an Anthology of Persian Poetry, Byzantine Music Notation, and a papyrus fragment.  The collection demonstrates a variety of medieval texts and artistic styles.  This particular collection is an excellent teaching tool for many classes in the humanities.
