Biographical Information

Percy Norton Evans was born September 6, 1869, in Montreal, Canada. He graduated from McGill University in 1890 with the Bachelor of Applied Science degree. From 1891 to 1893 he was at the University of Leipsic, Germany, receiving the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 1893. He also did advanced work in chemistry at Clark University in 1894.

In 1890 and 1891 he was assistant at McGill University, teaching General Chemistry. In 1894 and 1895 he was assistant in the Nutrition Laboratories at Wesleyan University, Middleton, Connecticut. In 1895 he became instructor in Chemistry at Purdue University, where he remained until his death. He was named Head of the Department of Chemistry in 1910 and Director of the Chemical Laboratory.

He became a member of the Indiana Academy of Science in 1896, was made a Fellow in 1901, and was named President in 1910. He also published a textbook - Introductory Course in Quantitative Analysis.
