Biographical Information

Henry R. Kraybill, Professor of Agricultural Chemistry and State Chemist and Seed Commissioner, graduated from the Pennsylvania State College in 1913 at which time he was awarded the John W. White Fellowship. He received the Master of Science Degree in 1915 and the Ph.D. degree in 1917 from the University of Chicago. From 1913 to 1917 he was assistant chemist in the Agricultural Experiment Station and Instructor in Agricultural Chemistry, the Pennsylvania State College. He was assistant Physiologist, United States Department Of Agriculture from 1917 to 1919. From 1919 to 1924 he was Professor of Agricultural Chemistry and Head of the Department in University of New Hampshire. From 1924 to 1926 he was Biochemist in charge of the Department, The Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research. In 1927 Doctor Kraybill came to Purdue University accepting the position of State Chemist.

He published numerous scientific papers in the field of plant biochemistry and during the past year was President of The American Society of Plant Physiologists.

As Professor of Agricultural Chemistry at the University Agricultural Experiment Station, Doctor Kraybill had charge of graduate instruction in Agricultural and Biological Chemistry. As State Chemist and Seed Commissioner he was responsible for the enforcement of the State Law regulating the sale of Commercial Fertilizer, Feeding Stuffs and Agricultural Seeds.
