Historical Information

Rockwell International began in 1928 as North American Aviation, Inc. After merging with Rockwell in 1967, they worked with the government to create rocket engines during the Apollo program. The aerospace business was sold to Boeing in 1996.

The papers of Ernest S. Stoop documents the academic and professional career of Ernest S. Stoops, Purdue class of 1949.  Collection includes autobiographical literature, professional papers, correspondence, photographs, and artifacts relating to his involvement in the Purdue University Army ROTC and his professional career, most notably his involvement in the development of launch systems for the HELLFIRE missile.  Collection includes his ROTC memorabilia and Purdue Zouaves Uniform.
