Historical Information

Stuart Field, also known as the Grand Stand, was the center for recreation in the early 20th century. The field hosted baseball and football games, was the practice field for the Purdue Student Artillery Training Corps and ROTC. It was also a focal point for student activities until its demolition in 1924 following the completion of Ross-Ade Stadium. The field was improved in 1895 and a grand stand was added to the field in 1898.
