Historical Information

The original Peirce Conservatory and Greenhouse was built directly west of Ladies Hall. The greenhouse was about 50 x 20 ft with an addition for boiler and fuel, and for potting purposes. Samples from the garden were donated to the Botanical Collection. In 1906 the greenhouse was no longer practical to be repaired. Because of this, a new green house was built in the same location in 1907. In 1921 it was moved behind Stanley Coulter Hall from its original location on the corner of State Street and University Street. It was moved again in 1927 to to a building next door.
