Historical Information

Originally called Residence Hall E, the Everett B. Vawter Residence Hall was constructed alongside Residence Hall D. This residence hall is part of the Windsor Residence Halls that were the first residence halls for women on Purdue's Campus. A lot of debate went in to planning this construction process and the fees associated with living in the new residence hall, as shown in the Board of Trustees Minutes. All 5 women's residence halls were also referred to as Windsor Residence Halls on August 27,1969. The Windsor complex was designed so that nearly every room in each hall would receive sunlight sometime during the day. Four of the Five halls in the Windsor complex line up in a straight line. If one were to open the lobby doors in Duhme, Shealy, Warren, and Vawter, you would be able to "shoot an arrow in a straight line through all of them".
