Historical Information
The Drew and Brittany Brees Student-Athlete Academic Center was formerly called the Intercollegiate Athletic Facility and was built in 1980. This building contains the Holloway Gymnasium, named after Bob Holloway, a 1948 Purdue graduate. In 2012 the building was remodeled and the complex was renamed the Drew and Brittany Brees Student-Athlete Center. This remodel increased the academic study space from 3,150 square feet to 5,350 square feet. The Brees Center is located above Holloway Gymnasium and offers several academic support services for Purdue student-athletes. These supports include tutoring, mentoring, study areas/rooms, and advising offices. The computer lab in this building was dedicated in 2005 to honor Chris Ribnek, who served as academic support services director. In February 2018 the Purdue Board of Trustees approved a plan to renovate approximately 10,000 square feet on the first floor of the Center. The gift-funded $2.7 million project will create academic support spaces. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2019.
