Historical Information

Originally designated as Women's Residence Hall D, Warren Hall was built with Vawter Hall to accommodate more women students. This building was officially named Martha E. and Eugene K. Warren Residence Hall in November 1954 after Mr. Warren died. The Women's Residence Halls were the first residence halls for women on Purdue's Campus. Much debate went in to planning this construction process and the fees associated with living in the new residence hall, as shown in the Board of Trustees Minutes. All 5 women's residence halls were referred to as Windsor Residence Halls on August 27,1969. The Windsor complex was designed so that nearly every room in each hall would receive sunlight at some time during the day. Four of the Five halls in the Windsor complex line up in a straight line. If one were to open the lobby doors in Duhme, Shealy, Warren, and Vawter, you would be able to "shoot an arrow in a straight line through all of them."
