Historical Information

The Horticulture Building was constructed in 1926 to house the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. South of the Horticulture Building is the Horticultural Greenhouses and the Horticulture Garden. Both were used to grow and research the plants used by the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. A large addition was added in 1938.

The Horticulture Building records contain the program from the building's dedication in 1926 and associated booklet "Indiana Horticulture: A Story of Horticultural Progress Prepared in Connection with the Dedication of the Horticultural Building, Purdue University." The booklet provides a brief history of horticulture in Indiana and lists the programs offered in the building at the time.
