The Joint Highway Research Project (JTRP) connects Purdue University, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), and private companies to enable research for the betterment of transportation systems and offer students practical research experience in the field. Established in 1937 as the Joint Highway Research Project (JHRP), the project was renamed in July 1997 to better align with the more expansive needs of INDOT and transportation research.
