Historical Information

The U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School began on September 9, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to standardize test pilot training. On February 4, 1951, it was moved to the Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California. The school trains test pilots, flight test engineers, and flight test navigators on aircraft and other evaluations of aerospace weapon systems.
