Biography

A Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education degree was authorized by the Board of Trustees on June 9, 1924. This degree was under the supervision of the Department of Practical Mechanics. In June 1939, this degree program was transferred to the Division of Education and Applied Psychology which later became the Department of Education.

The degree expanded into a program called Trade and Industrial Education. It was also referred to as Industrial Education. In 1963, the Industrial Education program was formally designated as a department by the Board of Trustees. It was moved out of the Department of Education and transferred to the University Extension Administration before it was moved to the School of Technology in 1964.

In 1966, the General Industrial Section in the Department of Industrial Education was separated and transformed into the Department of Industrial Supervision.

In 1983 the Department of Industrial Education was renamed the Department of Industrial Technology. In 2011 the Department of Industrial Technology merged with the Department of Organizational Leadership and Supervision to form the Department of Technology Leadership and Innovation.
